Installing a 32 bit license manager on a 64 bit distro can be problematic - it is possible the 64 bit distros are missing the 32 bit libraries even if they do have 32 bit libraries installed, it is likely they are missing an essential 32 bit library - ld-lsb.so.3.

We see little likelihood that anyone would actually build a machine today with RH7 that is 32 bit only.

However we strongly suggest that users download and install the 64 bit version of the license manager. We are providing both 32 and 64 bit version of the flexlm license manager. If both your applications and your license server are running on RHEL v7 then you will also need an updated application.īecause the new underpinnings of RHEL 7 apparently are not working correctly with both our artwork.exe daemon nor the flexlm libraries we have compiled our applications (on Linux) with. These new versions of the lmgrd and artwork daemon are backwards compatible with Artwork's existing applications if you are running RHEL 5/6 or if your applications are running on Windows. This version is v11.13.1.2 and the change is required by the recent release of Red Hat v7.

On UNIX, edit the appropriate boot script, which may be /etc/rc.boot, /etc/rc.local, /etc/rc2.d/Sxxx, /sbin/rc2.d/Sxxxx, etc. The paths to all the vendor daemons in the license file are listed on each VENDOR line. You must ensure that the vendor daemons listed in the license file have execute permissions for username. Su username -c "lmgrd -c license_file_list -l \ If lmgrd must be started by the root user, use the su command to run lmgrd as a non-privileged user: Start lmgrd by a user other than “root”, since processes started by root can introduce security risks. Prepending debug_log_path with the + character appends logging entries. debug_log_path is the full path to the debug log file.Lmgrd -c license_file_list -L debug_log_path Start lmgrd from the UNIX command line using the following syntax: If you do not do this, you lose all the advantages of having redundant servers, since the file server holding these files becomes a single point of failure. If you are running three-server redundant license servers, maintain a separate copy of the license file (as well as the lmgrd and the vendor daemons binaries) on each server node. Note: Start lmgrd only on the server node specified on the SERVER line in the license file. Both methods are discussed in the following sections. The license manager daemon, lmgrd, is started either manually on the command line or automatically at system startup. If any licenses in the license file are counted (license count > 0), the license manager daemon, and hence the license server, must be started before the FLEXlm licensed application can be used. 6.2 Starting the License Manager Daemon on UNIX Platforms
